As the crew prepares to leave the planet, an alien creature bursts out of Kane’s chest, killing him. The creature, known as a xenomorph, grows rapidly and begins hunting down the crew members one by one. Ripley, the last survivor, discovers that the ship’s science officer, Ash, is an android who was secretly ordered to bring the alien back to Earth. With the help of Parker and Lambert, Ripley sets the Nostromo to self-destruct and escapes in a shuttle. She manages to kill the alien, but it is revealed that another one is hiding on the shuttle with her.
